At Lava Rock Adventures we strive to give our Goldens the best life possible while continuing to grow our program. To ensure each dog is well cared for and receives appropriate training and attention occasionally we have puppies and dogs available for guardian home situations.

What is our Guardian Home Program?
Dogs in our guardian program live with their guardian families. The guardian family agrees to feed a certain food and vitamins (we have a few options to choose from), complete training (up to earning a minimum their CGC), provide safe and healthy exercise/play/social opportunities, and keep them updated on all vaccines and deworming.

Dogs in our guardian program are usually females.

After passing her health testing she would be bred no more than 3 times. To reduce the risk of infection I do not skip cycles, but if at anytime Lava Rock Adventures feels it is not in the best interest of the dog to breed her then she will be "retired."

On breeding cycles, the first day of blood spotting she would be brought to my house so that we can complete the appropriate hormone testing to ensure breeding occurs on the correct day. We usually have to do multiple tests during the breeding phase. Once bred she will go back to the guardian home. 30 days past the last breeding we will do an ultrasound on her to confirm the pregnancy. She would then come back to us about a week before her due date and stay with us from the birth up to 6/8 weeks after before returning to the guardian family.

For each litter the guardian family will get some financial compensation as well as have the opportunity to visit the puppies when they receive their first vaccines.

When her breeding career is over Lava Rock Adventures will pay to have her spayed. Once she is retired the AKC paperwork would be transferred to the guardian family.

As a minimum please make sure that you meet the following requirements:

Live in a reasonable driving distance to Blackfoot Idaho.

Be in a stable life situation.

Own a home with a fenced yard.

Have no plans of moving out of the area within the next 3 years.

Have the time to dedicate to a dog.

Have no intact dogs (male or female) living in your home.

Are able to attend and complete training classes.
